FLIUD COUPLING FUNCTION AND APPLICATIONS

It is a device for transmitting rotation force between shafts by means of acceleration and deceleration of hydraulic fluid is known as fluid coupling .
With construction of fluid coupling which is consist of impeller on driving or input shaft and runner (turbine) on out put shaft  which both are bladed rotors,  the impeller acting as a pump and runner acting as a turbine these both are contain the fluid. The impeller accelerate the fluid from near its axis at which the tangential components of absolute velocity is low, to near its periphery at this tangential components of obsolete velocity is high.Increasing of velocity its represents the increase the kinetic energy. The fluid mass energy at high velocity from impeller, its impinge on runner blades and transmit the energy to its

HOW DOES IT WORKS :

The fluid coupling is transmit the rotational force from transmission axis to receiving axis , which is consist of  two toroids and and doughnut shaped objects in sealed container of hydraulic fluid. One toroids atteched to driving shaft and  rotates with rotational force the spinning toroid moves around the receiving toroid the movement of fluid turns the receiving toroid then turns the connecting shaft.

APPLICATIONS :

Fluid coupling use a hydraulic fluid with in the constructions , mainly which device used to controlling of machinery torque in the the limits required, Through that machinery can decrease the power consumption and avoid the shock loads between the two transmission shafts while running, but no fluid coupling gives 100% efficiency. Practically hydraulic fluid coupling use in auto mobiles transmission systems and high induction motor drives.
